Shark Tank Investor Funds New Lemonade Product from 10-Year-Old Af. Am. Girl

FUBU CEO Daymond John, a judge on ABC’s Shark Tank, was so enamored with a little girl’s product pitch that he invested $60,000 and procured a 25 percent share in her entrepreneurial venture, said The Grio.

Called “Beesweet,” the honey-infused lemonade is based on a recipe that 10-year-old Mikaila Ulmer found in a 1940s cookbook. Ulmer got the idea for the product at age four when she was stung twice by bees, said the New Pittsburgh Courier. At first, bees scared her. Then, she became fascinated by them, their essentiality to the ecosystem and the danger of them becoming extinct.

“Partnering with Mikaila made perfect sense,” said John in Black Enterprise. “She’s a great kid with a head for business and branding. She’s got a great idea, and I’m happy to help take BeeSweet to the next level.”

Beesweet lemonade is currently sold in Whole Foods in Texas, Ulmer’s home state, as well as in Oklahoma and Louisiana.
