Snoop Dogg & Allen Hughes to Launch HBO Series

Snoop Dogg has joined forces with filmmaker Allen Hughes to launch a new HBO series set in inner city LA during the 1980s.

The show, which has not yet been named, tells the story of how one family is impacted by Regan-era social policies and legislation, said The Grio. It will be written by Rodney Barnes, whose credits include the TV series Boondocks and Everybody Hates Chris. Ted Chung will be one of the executive producers. Chung is Snoop Dogg’s manager and a partner at Stampede Management,

“Allen Hughes made one of my favorite movies ever,” said Snoop, 43, whose real name is Cordozar Calvin Broadus, Jr. He went on to say that he will approach the new project with the same fervor that has characterized all his initiatives. “When I’m on it, I’m on it like I want it. When I’m in it, I’m in it to win it.”

Broadus also announced he has launched a venture capital fund that will focus on developing cannabis-focused businesses, said The Grio. Reportedly, his net worth exceeds $135 million.
